When was the first post office in Portland Oregon established
The name of the city "Portland" was derived after Francis Pettygrove and Asa Lovejoy tossed a coin and Petty grove won the toss. Thus the city was named Portland because he wanted the name of the town to be kept Portland. The city got its first post office in the year 1849.
It was the time of the frontier posts and unexplored territories when the Post office was founded. Since then Portland has grown and is now covered by a very robust and efficient postal system.
