What are the exhibits to be found at the Oregon Zoo in Portland
The Oregon Zoo was earlier known as the Washington Park Zoo. From its modest start behind a pharmacy in the downtown Portland, the Oregon Zoo has today gained prominence as one of the biggest paid attractions in Oregon.
Among the different exhibits in the zoo, here are a few of them:
- Red Ape Reserve: White-cheeked gibbons and orangutans can be observed in both the indoor as well as the outdoor areas.
- Africafe or the Howard Vollum Aviary: This houses different exotic birds and these can be watched from close quarters.
- Africa Rainforest: Different tropical birds, bats as well as waterfowl thrive amidst lush vegetation. Lung fish, frogs and slender-snouted crocodiles are some of the endangered species who live here.
- Africa Savanna: Giraffes, hippos, zebras and rhinos stay on the riverbanks as well as water holes.
- Turtles, caimans, toucans, and saki monkeys are also to be found in the Oregon Zoo. Bears, Asian elephants and reptiles are to be found in plenty. For greater details, you can go to these websites:
