Visit Portland Expo Center: Discovering Trade Shows, Public Shows and Events
Since the 1920's Portland Metropolitan Expo Center has been a remarkable center of attraction, mostly for the local crowds in Portland OR. As years passed by, the facility grew into a typical entertaining venue featuring rodeo events and trade activities with livestock, cattle grading and auctions. The international convention center mainly was used for large-scale trade of local businesses, as corporate companies use it for marketing today.
The facility went on to serve a variety of purposes from the time of the Second World War. A large number of Japanese and Japanese-Americans lived out of their homes, and housed in the Expo center, with amicable treatment. The move was a security strategy by President Roosevelt, who was trying to eliminate all forms threat from enemy country Japan after the Pearl Harbor bombing during the war.
Known as the Portland Assembly Center since its earliest days, the facility served much of the services one would imagine in a local townhouse where private enterprises made the ruling. The venue serves as one of the most frequently hired event spaces in Portland OR, making room for restaurant services, garden enthusiasts, talent and trick show masters, charity operations, god shows, collectible item sales and much more than just an Assembly Center.
