At it's opening, the Portland Jantzen Beach Amusement Park was actually the largest of amusement parks in the whole of the United States of America. It sprawled some 123 acres right on Hayden Island that is located to the northern section of Portland. At the height of its glory, the Jantzen Beach Dipper was considered the best coaster on the west coast. When it was opened, the whole world named the Jantzen Beach Amusement Park as a Million Dollar Playground and rightly so. Now, all that is left of this million-dollar playground is Carousel that still operates after it was beautifully restored. You can access this carousel inside the shopping mall at the Jantzen Beach Super Center.
