Portland Coast
Portland is a city flanked by Willamette River. It does not have a seacoast but with Oregon being in the extreme southeast US, you have the Atlantic Sea quite closer to the city. You can arrange for a trip to the coast on bikes and get refreshed.
The weather in Portland, Oregon is coastal kind and you get rains at odd intervals. Willamette River opens into the sea and thus opens crevices and fiords near the city. On Portland cruises, you get to check the Portland coast with an insider's view.

During thunderstorms, not unique in these neck of the woods, you get the sea breeze and Feel close to the sea. This is a common enough essence to Willamette fringes and so the real estate along the wonderful river has grown out of proportion. People find living near the river very airy and comfortable. You get to see multicultural people wearing sarongs and sipping bears on the Willamette Coast.
It is not exactly a part of the renowned Oregon Coast. But you may get to check the Oregon Coastline and wallow in the beaches at the expense of half a day. There are a few private beaches owned by influential landowners. But maximum beaches are free and governed by the Govt. authorities. On special nights, celebrations are held here and just prior to Lent, the atmosphere is carnival like.
