Founded in 1892, the Portland Art Museum is the oldest art museum in the Pacific Northwest and ranks 7th oldest in the US. The permanent collection at the museum houses over 42,000 works of art, which are showcased in 112,000 square feet of galleries.

What about the visitor hours? The Portland Art Museum is open six days a week. It's closed on Monday. The operation hour is from 10 AM to 5 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Evening hour is available on Thursday and Friday with the operation hour from 10 AM to 8 PM. If you prefer to go outing on Sunday, please pay attention to the museum hours. The Portland Art Museum is open at noon and closed at 5 PM on Sunday.

The museum is still open to the public from 10 AM to 5 PM on two special days: Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve in 2011. Guests can enjoy the museum on both holidays and fully immerse yourself in the festal atmosphere imbued at the museum.

There's no better thing than taking a tour of the museum on free days. The Portland Art Museum provides free admission for visitors on the fourth Friday of each month from 5 PM to 8 PM. Special family programming and complimentary admission are also offered by the museum several times a year. You can check out its official website for the latest updates.

Inexpensive admission tickets are required for museum entries. Adult admission costs $12. Seniors over 55 and college students with student ID enjoy discounted admission of $9. Museum members, children less than 18 years old and school group tours are admitted to the museum for free. Children of 14 years old or younger must be accompanied by a parent.

If you're coming with adult group tours, each ticket costs $8. Parties of 12 or more are qualified to receive the discounted group rates. Reservations must be made two weeks prior to your group tours and full payment must be received 10 days before your visit. Please email at groups@pam.org to make a reservation.

College students of 18 and up can purchase an Annual College Student Pass with a full year's admission for only $10. The 2010 pass is good through August 31, 2011. Present your student ID at the museum box office to purchase the pass during regular business hours.
