Full-time Positions: Currently, there're six full-time job openings at OMSI. They are respectively Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Exhibit Designer, Exhibit Developer, Exhibit Repair Maintenance Technician, Facility Services Coordinator and Science Store Lead.
Director of Marketing and Public Relations
The primary responsibility of this position is to expand the museum's audience and maximize revenue so as to ensure OMSI's science leader position in Oregon. Specifically speaking, Director of Marketing and Public Relations should develop creative marketing and public relations strategies as well as execute tactical promotion plans.
The pay of this full-time position can be as much as $68,372 per year. Yet the basic requirements are quite strict. Candidates are required to have minimum seven years experience in progressively responsible marketing and management. And a proven track record of success in a highly dynamic environment is necessary. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication or related field would be preferred. Part-time Positions: OMSI offers two part-time positions now: Camp Maintenance Lead and Visitor Services Representative. Part-time jobs are paid by hour.
Camp Maintenance Lead
Pay: $12.89 - $15.79 per hour
Camp Maintenance Lead is responsible for the care and maintenance of camp facilities and equipment at one of OMSI's camp sites, Hancock Field Station. It's located outside of Fossil. Visitor Services Representative
Pay: $8.51 - $10.00 per hour
The principal responsibility of Visitor Services Representative is to provide high quality customer services to OMSI visitors. To be a qualified Visitor Services Representative, you might need to learn and practice some helpful skills such as emergency procedures, paging system, switchboard operation and portable radio etiquette. On Call Positions: As for now, OMSI is seeking for Evaluation Assistant and On-Call Educator. Both of these two on call positions will be paid by hour.
On-Call Educator
Pay: $11.52 - $14.10 per hour
To enhance visitor's learning experience at OMSI, On-Call Educator should perform demonstrations, carry out lab activities, and interact with visitors at any of the labs or exhibit halls. Evaluation Assistant
Pay: $11.51 - $14.10 per hour
Evaluation Assistant is responsible for providing assistance on evaluation and visitor studies activities. Specifically speaking, Evaluation Assistant should prepare evaluation instruments, collect data, assist in analysis and compile preliminary evaluation findings. Special Project Positions: OMSI launches special projects such as camps, outdoor school or educational classes during the programming season. To ensure the smooth going of those special projects, OMSI will recruit a good number of workers then. Some special project positions available now are Camp Counselor, Classes Bus Driver, Classes Before and Aftercare Provider, Classes Assistant, Classes Lead Instructor, Classes Supply Specialist, Exhibit Repair Maintenance Technician and Outdoor Science Camp Program Coordinator.
Camp Counselor
Camp Counselor acts more than just a teaching assistant but a positive role model during the camp. The counselor is supposed to work with and support volunteers throughout the special program. Seasonal Positions: OMSI is seeking for Camp Cook to cook for program participants and working staff during the programming season. Essential duties of Camp Cook include working with food vendors, planning nutritious menus, cooking planned menus, washing kitchen laundry and etc. Camp Cook is scheduled to work immediately till mid November. Work Study Jobs: To implement the Federal Work-Study Program, OMSI offers college students the Science Education Work-study job opportunities to support their education. They will be working at OMSI's interactive exhibit halls and labs.
Science Educators are supposed to assisting in maintenance of the labs and enhancing visitors' learning experience at OMSI by providing demonstrations, informal interactions and etc. Science Educators will be paid $10 per hour.
