Join to discover a fascinating story about the planets and animals used to inhabit Central Oregon from the rocks and fossils at Hancock. This is a camp centered in the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Participants can discover how minerals compose rock, how fossils form, how rock is eroded into canyons and more.

- Reptile & Amphibians - for kids in Grades 4 and 5

Are your kids interested in reptiles and amphibians? Join this camp! Your kids will take stock of various creatures of the semi-arid desert. They will also learn how to tell the difference between reptiles and amphibians and how to distinguish non-native species from many native species living in the area.

- Astronomy Camp - for kids in Grade 6 through 8

Come to spend a great time packed with exciting activities centered on various facets of astronomy. Children will learn about the moon, other planets and the sun. There are also mind-expanding discussions about black holes and cosmology. At night, they will stay up late to get a closer look at the sky by using telescopes.

- Fire Science - for kids from Grade 6 to 8

There are different field trips around the state, meeting wildland firefighters, watchtower keepers and structure fire fighters. During the camp, you will have a deep understanding of fires, by a comparison of urban and wild fires from a scientific perspective and from the perspective of people who fight them.

- Herpetology Field Study - for kids from Grade 6 to 8

During this 2-week camp tour, participants will learn about reptiles and amphibians in the varied ecosystems throughout the state of Oregon. Most interestingly, they will learn like a real team of scientists, studying animal husbandry and reptilian genetics. In addition, explore some of the most secluded, distinctive and seemingly uninhabitable corners of Oregon and creatures that do inhabit them.
