The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is known by its acronym OMSI and located in downtown Portland. The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry was established in 1944 and has been major tourist destination in Portland since 1950. The location of the museum was shifted twice as it outgrew itself.

The permanent exhibits at OMSI include Chemistry Lab which exhibits and demonstrates to the visitor how chemistry is a part of one daily life. The life science hall is particularly interesting as it houses hum fetuses at nearly every stage of development. The earthquake house exhibits the effect of the earthquakes and the protections one can take to prevent damages from the disaster. Along with these science halls one can walk into the submarine and get a feel of the machine and how it feels to be inside.

4) Experience the music with Laser Light Shows

As for upcoming Science Pubs in Portland, there would be two locations for visitors to choose from. If you happen to live in the neighborhood of SE Hawthorne Boulevard, then the Bagdad Theatre & Pub located at 3702 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard would be a good bet for you. Located on the east bank of the Willamette River, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is infused with breathtaking waterfront views. Types of Laser Light Shows

Currently in April, OMSI has three Laser Light Shows which are on stage at scheduled dates and time, including Laser Dance of Light, Laser Ragefest, and Laser Pink Floyd: The Wall.

- Laser Dance of Light is showcased at 3 pm on weekdays and respectively at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm on weekends. The songs choreographed to the laser light include:

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry ranks as one of the top science centers throughout the world. It consists of two famous auditoriums, including an IMAX theater, the first theater exclusively for spectacular IMAX films in the northwest of United States. In addition to grand IMAX experience, OMSI offers plenty of mind-expanding fun for visitors of all ages.

OMSI invites you to watch a variety of live science demonstrations and exhibits. These hands-on entertaining exhibits are great opportunities for your little kids to learn more about physical science, earth science, life science, technology and universe. Then, you can also climb aboard the USS Blueback submarine and catch a planetarium show in the Harry C. Kendall Planetarium. It's definitely an amazing experience for a guided tour to OMSI.

Admission to the museum is quite reasonable for a day of fun. If you're worrying about the pricey admission tickets and have never been to the OMSI, you're missing out. Let's focus on detailed ticket prices for varying attractions.

Adults to the museum will be charged with an admission fee of $12. Seniors over 63 and youth between 3 and 13 are admitted to the museum with a fee of $9. Museum members can receive free entry. If you're visiting with a group, please check the following website for group rates.

The ticket prices mentioned above are just for general admission and do not include fee-based programs, like the OMNIMAX Theater or the Planetarium. Additional admission tickets are required for these separate spots.

OMNIMAX Dome Theater - There's no better chance to see a movie at the OMNIMAX Theater at the museum. General admission to the theater is $8.5 and tickets for youth and seniors cost $6.5. Take advantage of the special evening offers. Any movie after 6 pm until the closing time only needs $6 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors. Members can always get a discount of $1 off IMAX Theater tickets.

Kendall Planetarium - While enjoying your time at OMSI, make sure to include a tour of OMSI's Kendall Planetarium. It's a unique environment and a perfect blending of fun, fantasy, art and science. All seats at the planetarium have the same general admission of $5.75 and $4.75 for members.

Laser light shows are also performed at the planetarium with a charge of extra fee. Matinees show admissions are $5.75 and an extra $2 is needed for evening shows. Museum members can receive $1 off matinees.

Submarine Tours - Experience the USS Blueback submarine by yourself! Take a 45-minute guided tour aboard the submarine and you'll learn how a submarine works. Tours are for visitors aged 3 years old and older. The general admission is $5.75. All submarine tours are scheduled to leave regularly from 9:50 a.m. to 5:10 p.m.

Motion Simulator - Come to the new Morphis Motion Simulator in the OMNIMAX Theater hallway and experience incredible adventures. General admission for visitors to take a ride is $5 and member price is $4. All riders must be at least 43 inches tall unless they are accompanies by a parent.

OMSI also offers combo tickets for guests to enjoy the best offerings. Two types of combo tickets are offered to best fit for your needs.

Adventure Pack Combo - This popular package includes the general museum admission and one IMAX film or one planetarium show. Full adult combo tickets are $16, while youth and seniors only need $13. All tickets are redeemable within 60 days from the date of purchase.

Museum Combo - Museum combo tickets are $21 for adults and $17 for seniors & youth. The prices include general admission to the museum, one IMAX movie, a submarine tour or a planetarium show of your choice. The combo tickets can be redeemed for up to 60 days from your purchase date.

Referred to as OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a museum situated just south of downtown Portland. 1) OMSI Science Pub

Want to learn about science in a relaxing way? OMSI Science Pub serves your needs. The OMSI Science Pub is actually an informal science lecture complete with beer, wine or non-alcoholic beverage. It is held monthly in fours locations in Oregon, including the Bagdad Theater (3702 SE Hawthorne Boulevard) and the Mission Theater (1624 NW Glisan) in Portland, the Cozmic Pizza in Eugene and the Old World Deli in Corvallis.

2) OMSI After Dark: Science of the Senses

Treat yourself to beautiful galaxies and science fun at OMSI after Dark. You will have a wonderful night at the museum filled with food, drink and brain-building science fun. At the event, you will enjoy live demos, new featured exhibitions and old favorites while tasting delicious snacks and sweets together with beer and wine.

3) OMSI Star Parties

4) Annual Shell Show

The 46th Annual Shell Show is coming soon. Interested visitors can seize the chance to discover the beauty of the ocean. At that time, a wide variety of race and beautiful shells, containing conch, mollusk, oyster and clam from around the world will be displayed on the show.

5) Reptile and Amphibian Show

In addition to shell show, there is another show that you may be interested in. That is Reptile and Amphibian Show, which features one of the largest gatherings of reptiles and amphibians in the Pacific Northwest. You will see more than 100 exotic animals displayed at this popular event, including a wide variety of captive-bred snakes, lizards, turtles, alligators and much more. The show also has a special hands-on area where guests will have an opportunity to interact with nontoxic retiles and amphibians.
