The project was started in 5 separate parts and each line runs over one or more of the previously opened segments. The different colors designated to the lines indicate the different routes to be adopted by the passengers who were put to action in the year 2001, along First Avenue, Morrison Street and Yamhill Street, but the alignment was changed in 2009 to Portland Transit Mallon. The green line that served the mall began in September 12, 2009.
